Get Away Gig!

   Please be sure to look on-line this week for a preview of our Get Away Gig auction items. I’m auctioning off a day as the kindergarten teacher. Breakfast & lunch will be included, and this  special student will have the opportunity to teach and construct the day’s routine. Also, I can’t wait for everyone to see the kindergarten masterpiece that Shelley Abernathy created.  I know everyone will want to bid on this one of a kind masterpiece!

Zoo Field Trip

Please go on the SGES website toFormstack and complete the permission slip for our upcoming field trip to the Atlanta Zoo, if you have not done so already.  This is our big field trip of the year.  The children are so excited.  We will send home more information as we become closer to the field trip date.

Scholastic Book orders are due Friday.  Also, don't forget to save your 2 liter bottles for class.

Kindergarten News

· Wed., Feb. 19th-Parent/Teacher conference & Play practice. Students will have lunch at school and then they will be transported by school buses over to Gordon College to practice.  They will be back in time for carpool.

· Thurs., Feb. 20th-School Play “Annie” at Gordon College-6:00-Students should arrive in costume and report to the front/lobby of the performing arts auditorium no later than 5:30 pm.

· Sat., March 1st-Get Away Gig

Tues., March 25th-Zoo Field-Please do not forget to go on Formstack and complete the permission form for our field trip to The Atlanta Zoo on Tuesday, March 25th.

(Don't forget to save any 2 liter bottles you may have and send them into class.)

Valentine's Day Party

Our Valentine’s Day party will be on Friday, Feb. 14th. We are asking each child to bring in Valentines cards for all of his or her friends.   Also, we have two parents hosting our party, but only one can attend.  If you would like to come into class and help out, all extra hands would be appreciated.

Please save your 2 liter bottles and send them into class. Thanks 

 

Kindergarten News

1/27/13

Tomorrow is the 100th day of school,  Don’t forget to come dressed as an 100 year old man or woman. We have a whole lot of fun activates planned.

Parents/Teacher Conferences are on Wed., Feb. 19 from 1:00-5:45. Each conference will last 15 minutes.  Please email if you have a time that is best for you, and I will try to accommodate that time for your conference.

A Note from the Office:

February lunch order forms are on Formstack and are due no later than Tuesday, January 28 at 4:00 p.m.  McDonald’s is now serving our Tuesday lunches and they are offering hamburgers, Scholastic orders due Friday.

Pep Rally is at 2:30 in the gym.  Spirit night at the basketball games starts at 4:00 pm.  The Junior Dragon cheerleaders will cheer at the pep rally and at half-time of the girls game-around 6:20 pm.  They should wear their uniform or a St. George's shirt and jeans.

Join us for face painting and to cheer on the SGES basketball teams and the Junior Dragon Cheerleaders!

The kindergarteners will be performing Annie, with the rest of the SGES student body, on Thursday, February 20th at 6:00 at Gordon College.

100th Day Celebration!

Tuesday, January 28th is our 100th day of school.  The children may come dress as an 100 year old lady or gentleman. We will have several activities through out the day to celebrate.  

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Show and Tell will be tomorrow.  This will give the children the opportunity to tell the class what they got for Christmas.

The Penguins Are Coming!

We will be studying about the Arctic and Antarctic circle during the month of January.  Part of our unit will focus on the animals and their habitats, penguins and polar bears. A penguin rookery is a place where penguins hatch their eggs and rear their young.   Please help your child construct a rookery to bring into class. To build a rookery, just fill a shoebox or basket with shreds of fabric, Kleenex, buttons, rocks, etc. The penguin eggs are fairly large.  Please have your child bring his or her rookery to class by next Monday, Jan. 13th., so their penguin eggs will stay warm.

Student's Behavior

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and we are so excited about starting a new year with the children. We are blessed with a great group of students in kindergarten. However, as we approach the second half of the year we have raised our expectations of behavior in preparation for first grade. The first part of the year was filled with reminders of how to make good choices, and now we expect the children to demonstrate how to make good choices independently.  This is the time of year in which we truly strive for great behavior. Please do not be surprised if you notice a note in your child’s folder, and do not hesitate to call me with any questions. We are also going to be on the look--out for students making good choices too.  We hope to have Lisa Mart next week, so the students can reap the benefit of making super choices during class. If you did any cleaning out of toys during the holidays and would like to make a donation to Lisa Mart; we would appreciate your donation. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to a fabulous 2014.
